Jon is a tree consultant with over 20 years of experience in the field of arboriculture and urban forestry. Located in Hong Kong, he has been a director of Asia Tree Preservation, Ltd. Institute of Arboriculture Studies (HK), and Arbortools (HK), Ltd. for the past 10 years. As director, Jon’s focus has been to support in the further development of the arboriculture industry in Hong Kong and the surrounding region through the implementation of tree best management practices and the introduction of new technology and research. Jon is a founding member of the International Society of Arboriculture – Hong Kong Chapter, co-chair on the chapter Steering Committee, and served as Chapter Executive, Chapter Representative, and Editorial Committee chair between the years of 2012 to 2016. His role as Chapter Representative required regular meetings with an international Council of Representatives with a focus on the further development of arboriculture in the region.
Specializing in advanced tree risk assessment methodologies, Jon has lectured on utilizing technical equipment for assessing trees for public safety. Technical equipment includes the Arbotom Sonic Tomograph, Resistograph, Dynatim, and more. He is also the head of the international ITEG – Independent Tree Experts Group (established in Germany) for Hong Kong region. He has trained and lectured in various countries including Malaysia, Macau, Taiwan, USA, China, and Hong Kong.
